New Delhi (Vivek Ojha) : India and Japan share a “Special Strategic and Global Partnership” focused on countering Chinese assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific through the Quad, advancing high-speed infrastructure like the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, and securing critical technology and semiconductor supply chains. In this Context Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi visit to India becomes more special.
She will be on an official visit to New Delhi from the 1st to the 3rd of next month for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. The Ministry of External Affairs said the summit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review and strengthen the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
This will be Prime Minister Takaichi’s first official visit to India. The visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tokyo in August last year for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. It reflects the shared commitment of the two countries to further strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
Both nations anchor the Quad framework to maintain a rules-based, free, and open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). Operational defense relies on the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) for logistics sharing and the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. Apart from this, Interoperability is enhanced through bilateral drills like JIMEX, Dharma Guardian, and Veer Guardian.
