UNESCO’s first “Global higher education trends report” released

New Delhi ( Vivek Ojha ) : UNESCO’s International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO IESALC) launched its inaugural Higher education global trends report in Paris on 12–13 May, revealing the deeper patterns shaping the sector.

This is the first UNESCO global report on trends in higher education. It combines in-depth policy analysis, drawing primarily on the UNESCO Higher Education Policy Observatory—a global resource that covers nearly 150 countries and includes over 50 policy indicators, as well as the full range of higher education statistics monitored by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).

The report provides important data to help guide higher education systems and policies as the world enters the final years of the SDG 4 timeline and begins shaping the post-2030 agenda. The topics addressed include enrolment and progression patterns, investment and equity implications, shifting trends in student mobility, and governance and capacity.
