Jaspal Rana, coach of Manu Bhaker, passes away at 49

New Delhi ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) : Jaspal Rana, the coach of shooting ace Manu Bhaker, passed away late on Thursday night. He was 49-years-old. He was serving as the high-performance coach for Indian pistol shooters. According to National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Rana breathed his last at a Delhi hospital.

Rana, who was serving as the high-performance coach for India’s pistol shooters, had reportedly felt discomfort while returning to India from the ISSF World Cup in Munich. After landing in New Delhi, he was admitted to Max Hospital in Saket, where he underwent treatment.

Rana was also bestowed with the prestigious Dronacharya Award in 2020 for his contributions and development of next generation of shooters.

Rana had recently received medical attention after he fell sick while returning with the Indian contingent from the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany.

It was under Rana’s coaching in Paris, her student Manu claimed two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Summer Games, making her the first Indian to achieve the feat. Manu had won bronze medals in 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team events in Paris in 2024.
