Israel continues tirade against UN chief over inclusion in sexual violence blacklist

New Delhi ( Vivek Ojha ) : UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has advised Israel that it has been added to a list of countries responsible for, or suspected of, using sexual violence in conflict in his upcoming UN report on the subject. The United Nations secretary general, António Guterres, told Israel there had been an “increasing number of cases” of sexual violence against Palestinian detainees, according to a letter shared by Israel’s U.N. ambassador.

Israel is breaking all contact with United Nations chief Antonio Guterres, the country’s ambassador announced on Thursday (May 28, 2026), saying it was “outrageous” that Israel is being blacklisted over alleged sexual violence in conflict zones.

Israel’s UN ambassador and Foreign Ministry have responded to the blacklist designation by renewing their attacks on Guterres and his role as UN chief. The Secretary-General and his team continue to spread lies against Israel. To put us and Hamas terrorists on the same list, that’s unacceptable,” he added. Israel’s Foreign Ministry called the country’s inclusion on the UN sexual violence list “shameful and absurd. ”The move “is further proof of the UN’s true nature: a politicised and corrupt organisation that has abandoned its founding principles and systematically targets Israel as its primary mission,” Ministry spokesman Oren Marmorstein said on X.

The Foreign Ministry shared two more posts on social media in recent hours, directed at Guterres, claiming that his report will “remain an indelible stain” on his legacy and accusing him of “fabricating” lies against Israel.

Guterres is due to end his second and final term as secretary-general at the end of this year, with the UN Security Council due to nominate his successor.
