New Delhi ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) : <\/strong>In Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi Medical College of Bhopal has developed a new AI-based technology to detect oral cancer at an early stage. The Government of India has granted a patent for the design of this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The college\u2019s Department of Dental Surgery has also developed an AI-based mobile app called \u201cMukh Arogya.\u201dThe app will help in the early screening of oral cancer. It can be used by ASHA workers, Community Health Officers and staff at Primary Health Centres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected to benefit people living in villages and remote areas. If early signs of oral cancer are found, patients can be referred to specialist doctors without delay. This will help start treatment on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may also reduce serious cases of the disease. Around 150,000 new oral cancer cases are reported in India every year. Early detection remains a major challenge for the healthcare system. Dr. Anuj Bhargav, Head of the Department of Dental Surgery said the main aim is to detect the disease at an early stage. He said early diagnosis makes treatment more effective and less expensive.Dr. Richa Sharma and Dr. Animesh Barodiya also played an important role in developing this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
