Agartala ( The Indian View team) <\/strong>: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said his government is committed to transforming the state police into a technology-driven, efficient and people-friendly force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the passing-out parade of 469 constables and one Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan at the Police Training Academy in RK Nagar, Saha urged the new recruits to serve with sincerity, honesty and dedication, saying these values earn respect and recognition in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is continuously working to modernise the police force by strengthening its technological capabilities, improving efficiency and making it more citizen-centric,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CM said the erstwhile rulers of Tripura had established an organised administrative and policing system as early as the 13th century, while the present structure of the Tripura Police came into existence in 1965.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saha said the Tripura Police was awarded the President\u2019s Colour for its role in successfully containing three decades of insurgency, reflecting its dedication, professionalism and sensitivity towards society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announcing fresh recruitment, he said the state government would soon begin the process of appointing 218 sub-inspectors and 916 constables to further strengthen the police force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saha said the government follows a transparent recruitment process at all levels and noted that the newly inducted personnel were selected after meeting all prescribed criteria and completing a year-long training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stressing the importance of continuous capacity building, he said police personnel should regularly undergo training to upgrade their skills in line with changing policing requirements.
