The reimbursement through France\u2019s social security system, covering Wegovy and Mounjaro injectable treatments, \u200cwill be available for severely obese patients with a body mass index of at \u2060least 35 with \u2060at least one comorbidity, or a BMI of at least 40 regardless of comorbidities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Novo Nordisk\u2019s Wegovy and Eli Lilly\u2019s Mounjaro medications have led a boom \u200cin anti-obesity treatment, attracting interest from governments keen to address rising overweight levels worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/theindianview.in\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/195736.jpg 1763w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The drugs will be \u200creimbursed at 65 per cent, though in practice the vast majority of eligible patients benefit from 100 per cent coverage due to comorbidities, she added<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rist estimated the annual cost to the state at around \u20ac100 million (US$116 million) at full roll-out. Patients in France are currently paying around \u20ac300 per month on average for the drugs, she said, without indicating how many people currently follow such treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The target population is around one million people.
