Lucknow ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) : <\/strong>Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched \u2018Project Ganga\u2019, a major initiative aimed at expanding high-speed broadband connectivity in rural areas, promoting digital inclusion, and generating employment opportunities for youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project seeks to provide broadband access to around 20 lakh families, train between 8,000 and 10,000 Digital Service Providers (DSPs), and create more than one lakh direct and indirect jobs. In the first phase, the scheme will cover 21 districts across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the launch, CM Yogi said broadband connectivity has become a basic necessity in the digital era and described Project Ganga as an important step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s Digital India vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the initiative, local youth will be trained to set up fibre broadband networks and deliver digital services in villages. The project is expected to improve access to digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, online skill development, and technology-based employment opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister said the programme would eventually be expanded to all 57,000 Gram Panchayats and around 8,000 Nyaya Panchayats, helping transform rural areas into digitally connected \u201csmart villages.\u201d Project Ganga is being implemented with support from the Hinduja Group on a \u201cno profit, no loss\u201d basis. Officials said nearly half of the beneficiaries are expected to be women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
