Manipur DGP moved to Cabinet Secretariat

New Delhi ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) : Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh was appointed Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday (May 21, 2026). He had been appointed as Manipur’s police chief by relaxing service conditions after an ethnic violence erupted in the State on May 3, 2023.

Mr. Singh, a 1993 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Tripura cadre, was appointed as Manipur’s police chief on June 1, 2023, days after the ethnic violence between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo people erupted in the State on May 3 the same year.
A Personnel Ministry order said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Mr Singh’s appointment to the post of Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. The Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG) that provides security to the prime minister and members of his immediate family residing with him at his official residence.
