lucknow ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) : Yogi Adityanath government is continuously taking reformative measures to provide higher education institutions with a modern and disciplined academic environment. On this way, Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (May 21, 2026) informed that dress code to be made mandatory in universities and colleges to strengthen quality, discipline, and social harmony in the education system.
State’s Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that Following the directions of Governor Anandiben Patel, adherence to a dress code will be made mandatory in all universities and colleges across the State. As far as possible, a uniform dress code will be implemented in every educational institution to promote a sense of equality and discipline among students.
The government added implementation of a dress code will help effectively address such situations and ensure that all students can study in an equal environment. “The student community is essentially a homogeneous group where no form of discrimination or social hierarchy should be visible. Differences in attire often reflect social and economic inequalities, which can create feelings of inferiority among some students and superiority among others.
